Triumph Thruxton 400

Powered by a tried-and-tested 398cc liquid-cooled engine, the Triumph Thruxton 400 cafe racer produces 42 PS at 9,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of torque – perfect for riders who love performance with style.

Triumph Thruxton 400

Triumph Motorcycles has introduced the all-new Triumph Thruxton 400 in India, reviving one of its most iconic and legendary names. With a price tag of ₹2,74,137 (ex-showroom), this new café racer combines vintage design elements with modern-day engineering — making it one of the most exciting 400cc bikes in the Indian market.

Engine & Performance – More Power Than Speed 400

The bike is powered by the most powerful version of Triumph’s TR-Series engine – a 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor producing 42 PS at 9,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. That’s about 5% more power than the Speed 400.Thanks to a reworked camshaft and performance-tuned internals, the engine offers better top-end performance and revs more freely. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox and comes with a slipper and assist clutch for smoother gearshifts in traffic and spirited rides.

Frame, Suspension & Ride Quality

The Triumph Thruxton 400 is built on a tubular steel spine/perimeter frame and features a cast aluminium twin-sided swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by 43 mm upside-down Big Piston forks at the front and a gas-charged monoshock with external reservoir at the rear.Compared to the Speed 400, the riding triangle is sportier – the clip-ons are 40 mm narrower and sit 246mm lower, while the foot pegs are moved 86 mm back. This results in a true café racer stance that still manages to be comfortable.

Brakes, Tyres & Dimensions:

Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc with a 4-piston radial caliper, and a 230mm rear disc with a floating caliper – both equipped with dual-channel ABS. The bike runs on MRF REVZ tyres – 110/70 R17 at the front and 150/60 R17 at the rear – offering solid grip and control.

Key specs:

Seat height: 805 mm

Wheelbase: 1,371 mm

Rake: 24.4°

Trail: 107.6 mm

Wet weight: 181 kg

Fuel tank capacity: 13 litres

Features & Technology:

While the Triumph Thruxton 400 looks retro, it packs plenty of modern tech under the skin:

Ride-by-wire throttle

Switchable traction control

Slipper & assist clutch

Dual-channel ABS

USB-C charging port

Single-pod speedometer with LCD screen

All-LED lighting – headlamp, tail lamp, indicators

You also get a 16,000 km service interval and a 2-year unlimited kilometre warranty — both of which are ideal for Indian conditions. Fuel efficiency is rated at 3.7 L/100 km, with emissions of just 85 g/km CO₂.

Colour Options & Official Accessories

Triumph offers the Triumph Thruxton 400 in four eye-catching dual-tone colours:

Lava Red with Aluminium Silver

Pearl White with Storm Grey

Racing Yellow with Aluminium Silver

Phantom Black with Aluminium Silver

Additional official accessories include LED indicators, tank pads, upgraded seats, and engine guards — allowing riders to customise their bike to match their style.

A Legendary Name Reimagined for Today

The “Thruxton” name dates back to the 1960s and is steeped in racing history. The original Triumph Thruxton famously took all three podium spots at the 1969 Thruxton 500-mile race, and was the first production bike to lap the Isle of Man at over 160 km/h.The new Thruxton 400 captures that same racing DNA, now in a compact, efficient, and stylish form — ideal for today’s riders who want heritage looks with modern performance

Final Thoughts – Is the Triumph Thruxton 400 Worth It?

For anyone looking for a motorcycle that stands out in both style and performance, the Triumph Thruxton 400 is a serious contender. With a perfect blend of retro charm, advanced features, and real-world performance, it’s a solid choice in the sub-₹3 lakh café racer segment.Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned enthusiast, the Thruxton 400 offers a premium riding experience that’s both practical and passion-driven.

Short Summary:

The Triumph Thruxton 400 bike has been launched in India at ₹2.74 lakh (ex-showroom) as a stylish, retro-inspired café racer. It features a 398cc liquid-cooled engine delivering 42 PS and 37.5 Nm, making it more powerful than the Speed 400.
